Mary Emma Ryan

Mary Emma Ryan of Cortlandt Manor, NY passed away on 2/17/22. She died peacefully at the age of 95, surrounded by her loving family. Born to Sylvester F O’Boyle and Emma Klees-O’Boyle on 9/11/26 in Wilkes-Barre, PA. Mary spent her childhood in New Jersey until she met her husband Donald and relocated to Peekskill where she was a long-time resident. She was an active member of the Churches of the Assumption and Holy Spirit, as well as a leader in the Cursillo movement. Mary retired as a credit manager for Hudson Valley Petroleum in Verplanck and Burke Energy in Hawthorne, NY. She kept herself busy with activities like reading, knitting, Mother’s Club, gardening, traveling. Above all else, what brought her the most joy was spending time with her family.  

She is survived by her children: Peg (Andy) Bogdanski of Northampton, PA, Pat Ryan of Cortlandt Manor, NY, Donna O’Gorman of Wappingers Falls, NY, Don (Susan) Ryan of Peekskill, NY, Mary Ellen Ryan of Peekskill, NY and Michael (Danielle) Ryan of Wappingers Falls, NY. She is also survived by grandchildren: Andy (Stacy) Bogdanski, Lisa (Mert) Bildiren, Emma Ryan and Samantha Ryan and great-grandchildren Ryan, Abby, and Ian. She is pre-deceased by her loving husband Donald Ryan, Sr, her brothers Jay and Donald O’Boyle, her granddaughter Jennifer O’Gorman, her grandson Ryan E O’Gorman, and her son-in-law Thomas O’Gorman.

The family will receive visitors at O’Mara & Carpentieri Funeral Home at 97 Broadway, Verplanck NY on Monday 2/21/22 from 4-8 pm. A Mass of Christian Burial will be offered at the Church of the Holy Spirit at 1969 Crompond Rd, Cortlandt Manor NY on Tuesday 2/22/22 at 10:15 am followed by interment at Assumption Cemetery. Donations may be made in her memory to the Peekskill Community Volunteer Ambulance Corps or the Scleroderma Foundation of Tri-State.
