Mary Cody

Mary Cody, better known as Pat, of Croton-on-Hudson, NY, passed away on February 15, 2023. She was 82.

Born in Brooklyn to her parents Harry Kaufmann and Edna Ross, Mary was selfless and took care of those around her. She was a beloved friend to many and a dedicated mother and grandmother.

Mary was active in the volunteer firefighting community as a member of Buchanan Engine Co., Centennial Hose, the Westchester County Volunteer Firefighter’s Association, and the Ladies’ Auxiliaries of Buchanan Engine (former President), Verplanck Fire, and Hudson Valley Volunteer Firemen’s Association. She was also a member of local senior citizens organizations in Buchanan, Verplanck, Cortlandt, and Nor-Cort.

Mary is predeceased by her husband Andrew, who passed away in 2020, her sister Ann Shirley Roush, and her brother Peter Howard.

Mary is survived by her son Marc and his wife Christine, her son Andrew Jr. and his wife Aubrey, and her two beautiful grandchildren, Colin and Avery. She is also survived by her sister Ellen O’Brien of Verplanck, NY.

Visitation will be held on Tuesday, February 21, 2023 from 4:00 - 8:00 PM at O’Mara & Carpentieri Funeral Home at 97 Broadway, Verplanck, NY.

In lieu of flowers, a donation can be made to the FASNY Firefighter’s Home in Hudson, NY or St. Jude’s Children Hospital.
