Kenneth Sherman died September 25, 2022, at 90 years old. Ken was born in Scranton, Pa. and moved to New York at seven years old. His early education was in Flushing, NY. Ken was married to his wife Marianna, who survives him, for 67 years. Ken served in the US Army during the Korean War from 1952-1954 receiving the rank of Seargent. In September 1955 he began his undergraduate schooling at Springfield College and then received his masters from the University of Bridgeport. He taught Physical Education at Lincoln Titus Elementary School in the Lakeland School District. He was predeceased by his four brothers, William, Jack, Robert, Donald Sherman, one sister, Barbara Wardell, his son Douglas and grandson Eric Sherman Twigg. Ken was an active member of the First Presbyterian Church of Yorktown for 54 years serving as a deacon and elder. He was an avid Mets fan, enjoyed coaching basketball, playing cards, telling jokes and attending all his family’s activities. Surviving are his daughter Jeral and her husband Roger Twigg, Judith and her husband David Peterson, his son Kenneth and his wife Kimberly. Also surviving are 13 grandchildren, Sara, Ryan wife Veronica, Colin Twigg, Kyle wife Jessica, Melissa husband Zach Lewis, Casey wife Kerrin, Troy Peterson, Kelsey, Kennedy, Kamryn Sherman Taylor, Alec and Luke Sherman, four great grandchildren and his dear sister-in-law Jeraldyn Pospisil and many loving nieces and nephews. A visitation will be held on Friday, October 14th from 3-7 pm at the O’Mara & Carpentieri Funeral Home with a Celebration of Life on October 15th at 11:00 am at the First Presbyterian Church of Yorktown. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Ken’s memory to the First Presbyterian Church of Yorktown, 2880 Crompond Road, Yorktown Heights, New York 10598.
