John P. Rush

John P. Rush of The Villages Florida passed away on August 29, 2023. He was 87 years old. John was born on January 11, 1936 in Poughkeepsie, NY to Edward and Anne (Gilbride) Rush. John was a US Marine veteran serving from 1954-1957. John worked as a steamfitter and a 60 year member of the Steamfitters Local#21 in Peekskill, NY. John’s favorite pass time was golf and if he was not at home you could certainly find him on one of the many golf courses in The Villages. John is survived by his children, John (Roxann), Joyce (Paul) Setterstrom and Michael, all of Colchester, CT, Roy (Kelly) Hesslegrave and Diane (Richard) Pitts, all of The Villages, FL, his grandchildren, Jason, Christine, Randy (Kim) and Wynter, his great grandchildren Ryder, Anthony and Gabrianna. John was predeceased by his wife Margaret, son Kevin and sister, Nancy Ryan. Reposing on Saturday, September 9, 2023 from 9:00-11:00 AM at the O’Mara & Carpentieri Funeral Home. A funeral service will be 11:00 AM at the funeral home. Interment will follow at the Assumption Cemetery, Cortlandt Manor, NY. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in John’s memory to the American Heart Association or the American Legion.
