Helen M. Curran

Helen Mary Curran passed away peacefully on the evening of November 18, 2021 at the age of 91.  She was born on October 3, 1930 in Yonkers, NY to Declan and Catherine (McDonald) Troy.Helen married the love of her life, William "Bill" Curran, Jr. on October 3, 1953 at Sacred Heart Church in Yonkers, NY and together they raised their family in Montrose, NY.She was predeceased by parents, her husband Bill and sisters Catherine "Kay" Troy (James) Flaherty and Mary Troy (Maurice) Galvin.Helen is survived by her brother, Declan (Claire) Troy of New Rochelle, NY; her seven children, Susan (Rachel) Curran of Sandy Springs, GA, William (Robyn) Curran, III of Boynton Beach, FL, Robert (the late Holly Rucki) Curran of Montrose, NY, Patricia (Richard) Veith of Rhinebeck, NY, Joseph Curran of Montrose, NY, Peter (Elena) Curran of Shelton, CT and Christopher (Diane) Curran of Aberdeen, NJ; her eleven grandchildren, Christine, William IV, Robert Jr., Ryan, Kyle, Katrina, Anna, Maria, Sophia, Ella and Kaia; her two great-grandchildren, Alysa and Ryan, Jr. and many nieces and nephews.She graduated from Sacred Heart High School in 1948 and the Cochran School of Nursing in 1951.  She was a registered nurse at Peekskill Hospital for many years before retiring in 1991.Helen and her husband Bill spent their retirement winters in Jensen Beach, FL where they enjoyed living in their condo on the ocean, walking on the beach and socializing with their many friends from around the country.  They also enjoyed traveling around the world with family and friends.  Helen enjoyed reading, crossword puzzles, Jeopardy, Wheel of Fortune and her beloved New York Mets.  But her greatest joy was spending time with her husband, children and grandchildren.  We will miss her dearly.Calling hours are Tuesday, November 23, 2021 from 4pm - 8pm at O’Mara & Carpentieri Funeral Home in Verplanck, NY.  A Mass of the Christian Burial will be held at St. Patrick's Church in Verplanck, NY on We dnesday, November 24, 2021 at 10am.In lieu of flowers, please donate to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital in Helen's name.
