George Thomas Pritchard,77, lifelong resident of Verplanck passed away on Monday, February 8th 2021. George was born March 25,1943 in Peekskill,NY to Leroy Everett and Muriel Rita Pritchard. George was a U.S. Marine Veteran serving our country from 1960-1965. George retired after 40 years of work at the Lafarge Corporation in Buchanan, NY. With great love and appreciation of his community, he was a life member of the Verplanck Fire Department,member of the Reformed Church of Cortlandtown and also a volunteer at the Veterans Hospital and Home in Montrose. He had the greatest relationship with his grandchildren, nieces, nephews and great grandchildren. He was an amazing father, brother, Poppy and friend. George’s favorite saying was to “Be Kind”. This was exactly how he lived his life, pay it forward, forgiving and loving. He had a love of animals. He will be deeply missed by his daughter Kellie (Jerry) Jackson of Gainsville,Ga, sons, Christopher (Tracy) Pritchard of Montrose, NY and Jay (Karen) Pritchard of Gilbertsville,PA.,15 Grandchildren, 3 great grandchildren, brother Leroy (Judy) Pritchard of Denton, Texas, several nieces and nephews and his loving partner (his “Lucy”) June Audrey O’Dell and their dog bandit. Besides his parents, George was predeceased by his wife Marie Theresa (Letteri) and his brother Paul Pritchard. A memorial service will be held 11 AM on Monday, February 15, 2021 at the Reformed Church of Cortlandtown in Montrose. In lieu of flowers donations may be made in his memory to the Reformed Church of Cortlandtown,2124 Albany Post Road, Montrose, NY 10548.
