Edward "Nedo" J. Burns

Edward J. “Nedo” Burns formerly from Verplanck, NY died on July 11, 2023. He was 86 years old.  Edward was born in Peekskill, NY on February 25, 1937 to Michael and Jane (Farrey) Burns. He married Grace Leverich on November 26, 1960 and moved to Eastchester. There they raised three daughter Michelle, Mary Ellen and Elizabeth.  He was a teamster with Local #456 in Elmsford, NY for over 50 years. Many of those year he took on the roll of Shop Stewert.  Edward was not only a leader of men, but a mentor of many. Edward was a past member of the Verplanck Fire Department. He loved to fish, the Hudson River, Classic Cars and Westerns but above all he loved his family. Edward will be dearly missed by his wife of 63 years, Grace, his children, Michelle (Michael) Mc Allister, Mary Ellen Burns, and Elizabeth (Keith) McGowan, grandchildren, Michael Edward and Daniel McAllister and many cousins, nieces and nephews. Edward was predeceased by his granddaughter Jennifer Mc Allister. Reposing, Thursday, July 13, 2023 from 4:00-8:00 PM at the O’Mara & Carpentieri Funeral Home. A mass of Christian burial will be 10:00 AM Friday, July 14, 2023 at St. Patrick’s Church, Verplanck, NY. Interment will follow at the St. Patrick’s Cemetery in Verplanck, NY. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in his memory to Calvary Hospital at fund.calvaryhospital.org or by mail to Calvary Hospital, 1740 Eastchester Road, Bronx, NY 10461 Attention: Calvary Fund.
