Edward G. Gauthier

Edward G. Gauthier, “Big Ed”, beloved husband, father and grandfather passed away on January 26, 2022, he was 68.  Ed was born October 9, 1953 in Jamaica Queens, raised in Croton-on-Hudson and attended Croton-Harmon High School, where he found his love for sports.  Edward was the son of the late George and Katherine (Clifford) Gauthier. He was a proud member of New York City's Local Carpenter's Union 157. He was a hard worker and owned his own construction company, Dawn Alterations, LLC for many years and later worked for Ahearn Holtzman, Inc.

 When Ed met the love of his life, Dawn, on the softball field, they created a wonderful family with their four beautiful children, Kristi Leah, Katherine, Edward “Little Ed” and William “Bear”.  Family was everything to Ed, he loved doing everything with his children and especially loved being their coach in every sport.   Over the past seven years he was able to be the best “Gamps” to his grandson Jackson.  Ed loved his grandson Jack Jack more than life and he was his “best buddy”.  He was just as good as a grandfather as he was a dad. 

Ed was a kind sole who would drop anything he was doing to help others and was the one to rely on to answer any question one might have.  His favorite activity was to take his two dogs to the river for a walk and swim, his daily ritual where he would talk to his boys that he missed so deeply.   Ed touched many lives over the years and will be greatly missed.

Survived by his wife, Dawn Gauthier (Metz), daughters Kristi Leah (Keir Howard), Katherine Vadala (Matt) , sisters Barbara Senior, (Tom), Maryann Seger, nephews Brian (Serena ),  Kevin (Lori) and Dakota Metz, nieces Debra Simoncini (Vincent) and Jacqueline Chan Chee, his mother-in-law Carol Bale Uhl, sister-in-law, Victoria Metz (Mark Loftus), his grandson, Jackson Thomas Howard and great nieces and nephews.

He is predeceased by his beloved sons, Edward and William, his brother-in-law Louis Seger, niece Christine Bryk, father-in-law Frederick Metz and his brother- in- law Fred Metz.

Visitation is on Monday, January 31, 2022 from 4-8 PM at the O’Mara & Carpentieri Funeral Home. Funeral service will be held 7 PM at the funeral home.
